[ VOICE ] - dated before the first ship to Dorchacht
My name is Lux, and I have a favor to ask of a few of you.
A number of us will be traveling to Dorchacht to... smooth over some rough patches in our relationship with them. Say what you will about how they treat others—I have my own opinions, and that isn't necessarily something I wish to speak about here. That isn't the point of this. Talks are bound to be tense, and many of us will be going in blind.
I am looking for a few monsters to align with, who won't shy away from gathering information, by any means necessary. In exchange for this, I offer a temporary Bond, during our time there; and protection if things don't turn out as expected. I will do what I can to keep you safe while in Dorchacht.
I am also looking for a few Witches willing to come together to push for equal treatment of Monsters within Dorchacht. Neither city can afford a war; and while I have experience with this sort of situation, there is strength in numbers. We have the resources—and it only makes sense to gather as many in one place before attacking this problem.
This is asking a lot, I know, but I want to be prepared for anything. I doubt I am the only one. I will be leaving in a few days. I would prefer to have these discussions before then, either in person, or here. Thank you.

Pairing with someone who can crack through any magical barriers would cover my blind spots, in that regard.

I see. I'll admit that Abjuration isn't my strong suit, but I have been doing more reading since the last shared dream. Although, I don't plan to be out on the streets myself.
[ She pauses, tilting her head quizzically. ]
And please, just Lux is fine. And you are..?

Sir Everett Vaughan, diplomatic ambassador of the Springtide Clan. Just Everett is fine for me, in turn. Well met. [he would need to shake her hand, first they meet in person... he makes mental note]
As a monster, I shall not be doing anything too desperate. [well, probably. Or if he will be, he shouldn't say as much.]
The city would look less than kindly upon any trespasses I make. However, I'm not against taking risks, if they are well founded. [give him a good lead and he'll go for it, but he doesn't go breaking in places on impulse...]

[ it's - almost strange that viren feels like he doesn't know many witches.
regardless, "any means necessary" he can do. ]
If not a temporary bond, then... something else.
no subject
[ She hears the hesitation in his voice and empathizes. ]
It's not ideal, but we need to be willing to look after one another while we are there. But I'm curious what this "something else" might be.
no subject
[ so - that's a yes. sort of. consider his behavior, he's a little surprised by her open friendliness, sincere or not. anyway! ]
The resistance's runes. From my understanding, the Witches here have been studying it. Are you familiar with that spell yet?

[Since the beginning when they say the colors of the Black City, Towa knew they shared the same opinion of it.]
You have my support. Whatever I can do to help, I’ll gladly do it. There is so much I want to accomplish... I’ll feel better knowing you’ll be helping me do that.
Video
I'm glad. It's a relief knowing that I have your support. I was worried that people might think I'm overstepping.
I think, right now, we should focus on what each one of us wants to bring to the negotiation table. Have you given this any thought at all?
no subject
[They've all been thinking about this problem in their own way. Maybe their opinions didn't all match, but it's been important to most people in it's own way.]
I've been thinking about it a lot. For them, this is most likely the way they've been living for a long time. I'm not sure what kind of words might reach them. But I have to try. What I'd like to do is try to explain it in a logical way they might understand-- the benefits of changing their ways, what they can gain from working together instead of one working for another. And I want to show them that this way works. I think that as a group, we have an opportunity to lead by example. Seeing is believing, right?

[ Daenerys carries her voice cautiously, ensuring such a bond would not be dubious in the slightest. ]
I do not believe you are asking for much, my lady.
video
I want to hope for the best, but I want to be prepared in case things take a turn. We need to look out for each other, in any way that we can, and this is the best way I can think of. I know there are those who struggle with the concept of Bonding— [ Hell, she was... still is one, but ] But we need to prepare for anything and everything.
[ Her smile warms at Daenerys's reassurance. ]
Thank you. I know that there's no reason for anyone here to listen to me, or take what I have to say seriously, so I can't help but worry. And please, call me Lux. Will you be going to Dorchacht as well?
no subject
[ They needed to prepare. There was no doubt about it. Lux's words were collected, enough for Dany to face this ... odd device to respond. ]
There's every reason for people to listen. You speak when people remain silent. Be proud of that.
[ A nod follows. ]
And please call me Daenerys. I will, I hope to learn more about this city and how we can best approach the brewing tension.

I had intended to gather what information I could in my own travels there. I'm happy to share- I believe that will benefit us all.
no subject
I think that would be helpful. I take it that you have experience in this sort of thing?
no subject
Indeed. It's something of a speciality of mine, if I may say so.

What I believe we can do is to serve as a good example. Let the common folk of Dorchart see that our system works better, make them question their own leadership. That way we can further the cause without endangering the main mission. The behaviour of every single member of delegation will be scrutinized either way so let's use that to our advantage.
As for information gathering, that my main objective. Whatever we do and how pure our intentions may be, things may turn sour for whatever reason. We need to prepare for that too.
no subject
But I'm not sure if leading by example will work. When all you know is a single way of life, especially when that way of life directly benefits you, other possibilities seem either unnecessary or wrong. I still intend to try, but we may not be far enough along to begin to have these difficult conversations with the people of Dorchacht.
What sort of information will you be seeking out? We might be able to help each other.
no subject
The information I seek is practical. I know too little about magic still to be of any use, I'd probably miss the most important things. What I am definitely good at though, is war and this is the area where I can be most perceptive. To be completely honest it worries me that the leader of Dorchacht allowed us, supposed perpetrators of the incident, to be a part of the delegation. I don't want to speculate for I prefer to see things with my own eyes before making a judgement but it just feels odd.

I fought wars, but I never fought a battle of ideology. If you have the experience, how would you go about it?
If we're to smooth over the rough patches, how do you suggest people should proceed about pushing their own agenda at the same time? Wouldn't that bristle them up?
Voice
I don't think we are at the point to push agendas overtly. As far as Dorchacht is concerned, we cast the first stone, intentionally or not; and as much as I would love to address the why, we need to convince them that it is worth listening to us at all before we can have that conversation.
Aefenglom and Dorchacht have a common enemy, and neither can afford to war with each other while that threat exists. Sometimes all you can hope for is a temporary distraction like that will help cool their heels.

The way that the witches in the Dorchacht in our dream treated monsters was inhumane. It was criminal. They robbed them of their free will.
