[It's been a few months since Momo made a video post, but he starts off as brightly as ever, waving a red-nailed hand from where he's sitting on the couch in his cottage. He has his legs crossed on the seat, so his equally red toenails are all just as visible.]

Hey, so it's taken me a while to follow up on this, but a couple of months back I was asking around about the idea of getting together some kind of comprehensive resource on monster changes! Since I've met a lot of people who've been really blindsided by stuff, and while some of it hasn't been so bad, some of it is definitely the kind of thing that'd be super nasty to go through without any warning. So I'm asking for any monsters - or Witches who've seen a Bonded or close friend go through the changing process enough to have details - who are willing to answer a couple of questions on what kind of changes you have or know about!

[He holds up a written sheet - this particular one is written in Aefenglom's common language, in the standard alphabet rather than the runic one some books use.]

I'll leave a text copy of the answers on here so people can respond here, but I'll read them out too just in case there's people who can't read any of the three languages I know - I'll have the form in Aefenglom common, Japanese and English, but if you'd rather not read or write you can just answer here in voice or video and I can ask you the questions that way! But the questions I've got at the moment are:

I had some people last time say they'd be interested in helping me compile the information, but it's still probably going to take a bit of time. Oh, and if you want a physical copy, you can either pick one up from me or I'll be figuring out a couple of places to leave them for easy access. And if you're a Witch answering on behalf of someone else, just let me know that in the first question.

What monster type are you? Harpy

What physical changes have you gone through? I have grown feathers across most of my body, including large wings from my arms. My hands and feet are talons, my teeth are sharp, and my ears are pointed. Also, my hair changed color.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? I can use my wings to fly, my eyesight has increased in clarity, and I always know when someone is lying. I can also, if I concentrate, send small bursts of concentrated air from my wings that is sharp enough to cut skin.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I was beset by the constant, unforgettable urge to build a nest, and to keep my most beloved things there.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? I do not know of any. But it is likely I have simply not encountered them.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? Nothing else.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? I do not know if I have fully completed my changes, or if there is yet more to come. But I began changing this summer, so it has been at least six months.

What physical changes have you gone through? Ah, let's see... I grew fur on the upper half of my body, my eyes changed to gold, I have claws and a fluffy tail and long ears - I tried to have those chopped off once but I'm glad I didn't because they're adorable. Oh, and I got a little shorter.

*It's important to note that none of my physical changes have affected my handsomeness.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? Speed, and I get a funny feeling sometimes. Like before someone throws a punch or a beer bottle at me. And I can sound just like Lan Qiren, which isn't necessarily a good thing...

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I kind of want to dig a burrow and move Lan Zhan into it. And...well, sometimes I feel more, eh, let's just call it "romantic".

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? I can't stomach meat anymore. Not even Shijie's delicious pork rib and lotus root soup. :(

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progess that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? [sorry momo, he just draws a picture of chibi lan zhan in this space.]

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? Nothing else has changed since last summer, so I guess it took around five months all in all.

What monster type are you?

Naga.

What physical changes have you gone through?

The obvious replacement of legs with a snake tail, of course. Along with that, the replacements of snake eyes, tongue, and fangs, as well as scales in other places.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change?

During the full moons, I've found my scales to develop a harder sheen, almost as if made of metal. Beyond that, I cannot think of anything I've found beyond the normal sorts of things one would expect from the physical changes. There is venom, but I hesitate to discover its effects.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster?

A fondness for warm objects is quite difficult to control. I think we're all aware of the troubles the full moons can cause as well, but I'm fortunate enough to have bonded before truly feeling the full effects.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?

Unfortunately the winter weather agrees with me less now. The cold is quite terrible.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?

Having someone to help during the adjustment to life without legs would be well advised. Even with the impending signs that it was to happen, I cannot imagine it an easy change for anyone. Frequent bathing helps with the shedding process as well.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take?

The last notable changes were some time ago. Perhaps four months or so, then.

Turnskin - akita inu

What physical changes have you gone through?
My hands and feet are a little more like paws, with claws growing on them instead of nails. I have dog ears and a tail, as well as more hair/fur on my back now. I also have sharper teeth

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change?
I can shift into a dog now, or into a more beast-like form. It's easier to do closer to the full moon. I can also smell a lot more weird smells now than I could before

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster?
I find I need to keep an eye on my friends more, and I get really defensive when one of them is in trouble. I guess I'm more of a 'guard dog' than before. I also get the urge to chase things sometimes, and dig through things

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?
I can't eat chocolate anymore. It makes me sick

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progess that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?
It's helped having friends who are patient and willing to help me with this. For me, just talking to someone else going through these changes, or at least being willing to put up with some of the changes I've faced, it's been a big help. Especially with my whole 'pack instinct' thing

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take?
I think it was about six months ago since my last big change? So about that long

What monster type are you? A Faun. Some kind of white deer--the closest thing I know of from back home would be a halla but from all I know halla don't shed their horns, and I do.

What physical changes have you gone through? [huff.] Where to begin--s'pose the most notable is I've got antlers for most of the year, and they appeared in the very first dream I had of Geardagas before crossing the mirror. I've got a deer's ears, legs, and tail and I'm covered all over in fur. My hands are tougher, too, and during the first couple of full moons my hair grew out long enough to braid again.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change?

I can--not talk, exactly, to animals, but commune in sympathy with them. Find out what they want and ask them to help me, if they're minded. I can also make plants grow much faster and even out of season. Always seem to know where I am, too, whether I'm in the city or the Wilde.

And it takes a lot more to get me drunk than it ever did and I've yet to break my skull despite running head-first into a couple of things that ought to have shattered it.

[Pause.] When I'm dreaming, and I can see, my vision's a lot sharper than it ever was back home.

...and I can turn into a deer. [Mildly embarrassed,] An unreasonably huge deer.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster?

I'm--quicker to anger than I used to be, and it hits me harder. [That's an understatement.] Especially during full moons, even with a Bond. I get urges, too, then, to do things I wouldn't ever consider otherwise--mostly harmless but a lot of them foolish, too, without worrying what'll come of them.

And the Wilde's--I almost hesitate to say it, now that I've thought about it, but it's sacred to me. The thought of it burning--Maker, it's like thinking of Andraste defiled before they put Her on the pyre. It's unspeakable.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?

I'm not so interested in meat as I was before I started changing, and I don't like open fires. Just smelling smoke is enough to make me uneasy.

[He has, maybe, not noticed his additional distractability when it comes to certain sensual appeals.

...Or he's still too Circle-trained to talk about that in public.]

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progess that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?

[A laugh.] Even if you're not Bonded, make sure you've got someone you trust with you during the full moons or you're like to end up running around bare-assed with strangers or growing someone an entire garden maze because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

And make sure you've got a garden of your own, and live somewhere big enough you can have animals with you. You'll be happier for it.

If you have completed your changes, how long did they take?

Nine months. Think that's longer for me than most--my ears changed last, at seven months, but I didn't have most of my magic until the ninth month.

What monster type are you? What do I look like, a Dragon?? Haha... I'm a Puca.

What physical changes have you gone through? My my. I'd be here all day if I listed them all! Evidently, I've grown ears. My iris has turned gold... And there's flesh and fur on my metal forearms! [He even raises them, which is a perfect opportunity to note:] And I have nails now! Though they're more like claws...

I have fur on my hips and calves, and my. Ahem. Feet, which were once heels... became rabbit-like! [yes you heard him right, his feet are natively heels and they just kinda judy hopps'd over here.] Yes! Even your legs can change, darlings. Though they never stopped being sexy!!

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? Oh! My favorite part. There's my penchant for provoking probability, in my favor... And, I have the ability to sense something bad's about to happen. One time, I could sense that my Bonded and I were in imminent danger... And upon hiding, Nuckelavee showed their sinewy hides. I'm as right as my angles!

..... (That joke didn't work as well in this body.) [Mettaton cannot cut that in post-production. But he would have.]

I can track people down, as long as I focus on an item frequently on their person. For example, anyone who wears glasses is an easy target! Last, but not least, is the talent for shapeshifting. [Mettaton sighs dreamily, pressing his fingertips to his cheek.] This is no illusion, beauties. We're talking a change from metal and wire, to flesh and bone and blood, and all of its properties... My. Even considering it has me feeling breathless, and I have no lungs! What an experience.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? There's an inclination to become statuesque, at the mere sight of danger... [This is obviously not favorable to Mettaton, whose expression sours. But his smile returns, eyelids curtaining heavily.] Though I've been told that Puca are a bit liberal, in the realm of... sensual escapades. Oh my. But not I. I know I'm worth slavering over... But I'm an act for all ages! [When a Monster's asked to give his account of his transformation, plenty of things are bound to be relayed by an unreliable narrator.] Otherwise, I can't think of a thing!

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? Yes! Take it from me, a man made of metal... Primarily, steel. Even as distant relatives to the faefolk, Puca are terribly allergic to iron. And iron alloy. I spent my first months here in increasing agony, as my ability to sense pain increased from moon to moon... It was delightful and terrible, both at once!!

Anyway. I can't make promises without seeing them through, either. It's a weakness only if I can't fulfill it.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? Worried about your fashionable footwear?? Fear not! Plenty of cobblers in this city take commissions for custom Monster-fitted shoes, darlings. Shoes, heels, boots... They can do it all! I have an entire closet filled with Mettaton-shaped heels!

If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? What's a questionnaire without a bonus round! Let's see. A good eight months... Yes. Though that final month, was spared toward developing the finishing touches of my magic... and, other organic processes. Like sleeping, to recharge my battery. Pretty specific robotic things!

What monster type are you? I was a chimera

What physical changes have you gone through? I grew tentacles, my horns changed shape, I found myself covered in cow hide and squid skin, my ears changed to a cow's.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? I became stronger, as I remember.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I don't recall there being any. ( when you're already a stubborn old ox, it's hard to really feel any different when the ox nature takes over. )

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? I found myself needing to be in or near water more often.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? Chimera forms are all very different. There's no way to know what you might become.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? Three or four months, I think.

What monster type are you? Fae

What physical changes have you gone through? Thin scales in several places, moth wings, fur around wings, loss of height. The scales come off easily and don't hurt when they do, but they grow back within a few days.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? Illusions not limited to visual senses, granting items minor enchantments. I can see through at least some illusions.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I get restless around the full moons if no one else is around. I don't know otherwise.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? Fire, ice, iron. I've heard we're more susceptible to the Cwyld. I haven't tested any of them, but the cold feels terrible with the wings.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing process that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? Look for accommodations sooner rather than later. Wings make clothes and chairs annoying. Don't try to get around finding a bond. The scales get everywhere like glitter does, so try not to let it bother you or prepare to clean every day.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? I've only been here three months, so it's probably not over yet.

[He sees the survey while checking for any fresh faces at the newbie classes. Not Leo but...it's a thing Leo would have encouraged, and not just for being a request for knowledge. Since Henry left he'd been neglecting his reading, and certainly his penmanship. He considers not bothering, there's always the network he could just film- but he puts a foot down on that thought. If he's thinking about what Leo would want, he has to do it by hand. The act of tracing each one, physically making the shape yourself, helps you identify them better. The memory of his voice comes to him, loud and clear. A lot clearer than he's heard in a long while.

He stares at it, scowling, for maybe a minute, tail twitching back and forth in deep thought before taking quite a few copies and hustling away. He was going to be awfully rusty and he would NOT turn in something illegible.

He didn't use up all the copies he took, but the number he returns to the pile the next day has definitely dwindled. He slips the final product under Momo's door. It's folded neatly and sealed with a dab of wax. The handwriting is indeed legible, if not the most elegant. Each word is carefully spaced from its neighbors, however the lines the words are in slant down and to the side in an odd fashion.]

Chimera, (Snow leopard, mountain goat, scorpion.)

What physical changes have you gone through?

Nearly a full body fur coat, cat ears, hooves into feet, horns on my head, tail, teeth and nails sharper.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change?

Heightened senses all around. I'm stronger, faster, more flexible and the venom in my tail is quite lethal.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster?

I hunted for subsistence at home, so the act of and urge to track and stalk and pounce are familiar to me. Yet here that action has an even deeper satisfaction than the knowledge of a meal to an empty stomach, which is already a very powerful thing.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?

Not specific to my type as much as my species, but hot weather is intolerable to me now.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?

For any monster that can shape shift, or anyone expecting a big change really, stretch beforehand. It really makes a difference. Your bones are going to move, make it easier for them.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take?

Several months. Days leading up to the full moon would grant me little things, (nails, teeth, hair), and then the full moon itself would give me something bigger, (horns, tail, ears). It wouldn't happen every full moon, so there were lulls, times I thought the process over. It's been more than 8 months now though so I'm reasonably sure nothing else is coming, but I can't rule it out.

What an excellent idea, Momo. I'm certain this will be helpful to others who are still struggling, and any new arrivals. Of course I'm glad to help, as least as far as I can from my own experience.

I suppose there's hardly so much to go over for newfound witches, is there?

[Momo gives a bit of a laugh at that question.] Yeah, not so much. The biggest points for us are making sure we know about the whole blowing up thing, which is pretty common knowledge, and deciding on a magic class. And even if someone doesn't trust the Coven, it's a little bit easier to at least get the general outline of all the magic classes from another Witch, whereas trying to list off everything you might have to deal with as a particular monster type...that's a lot even just for one monster.

I'm hoping there's enough answers to cover the variety of changes some Monsters can have across different people, but I guess we'll have to see how it goes.
