[he's going to try to keep this short but he's also wei wuxian, so...]
Lan Zhan and I are finally getting married this month! If you can see this, consider it your invitation to celebrate with us and see how beautiful he looks in red.
[strangers too, and there should probably be some caveat here about not causing any trouble. but when one of the grooms is the yiling patriarch, things like that don't automatically spring to mind.]
Oh, and if you're a priest or a shaman or a holy woman, you're doubly invited, otherwise I'm really going to have to find someone to do the ceremony.
[now for the real reason that he's here:]
It took us a little longer than we thought it would to get to this point. I was impatient, but now Iβm grateful, because so many members of my family have arrived to see it. My brother Jiang Cheng is here now - Sect Leader Jiang Cheng. [yeah, just gonna slip that in there.] He helped raise his nephew from infancy so I hope he can finally take a break and have a little fun.
[does thinking about a man raising a small child make him more attractive? it worked in lan wangji's favor, he's assuming it will work for his brother too.]
Before he came, I relied solely on Chifeng-zun - eh, Nie Mingjue to most of you. He agreed to stand for me when I didn't have anyone else to count on. Spending time with him, I realized that heβs just as fair and just as ever, not to mention generous. How do you repay someone who helped make the happiest day of your life possible?
[does he mention his muscles too, would that be weird? perhaps the better question, would it make lan zhan jealous?
he clicks his tongue.]
It's hard to believe that neither of these upstanding men is married yet. Or even have a date to the wedding... [let that sink in. heβs hoping it does. wei wuxian sighs and shakes his head at the tragedy of it.] I keep telling myself that surely there's someone who would like to attend and are in need of escorts themselves.
Did I mention that there'll be food and alcohol? Plenty of both.
Oh, one last thing. I've seen a lot of questions about dating lately. You can always send them my way. As a married man, I'm happy to share my knowledge with the junio--err, others.
[and with that, the puca is (finally) out.]

Lan Zhan, how was that? Do you think-
no subject
[he's automatically lucky as long as he has lan zhan. but he wouldn't mind seeing him in those sequins and glitter himself.]
He asked me to be his cultivation partner for life - that's a proposal in our world. Then he asked me if I would marry him twice, here and when we return home.
Lan Zhan is my soulmate. I've known it since we were boys.
[if the mushinessness doesn't come through his voice or lovesick expression, his own ears are sort of shivering happily.]
no subject
Mettaton sees the sign of his love, and his own manner grows even more interested, soaking it in... as his own ears go slightly askew, leaning forward but also parting to each side of his head.]
What a romantic. Anyone who wants to marry multiple times is a keeper! It's no wonder he's your soulmate. [The robot without lungs makes a noise kind of like an imitation of a sigh.
Since they were boys... They must know each other from home. They'll be able to marry here, then do it all over again upon their return... Truly lucky. Lucky all over.]
You're right. You won't need any more luck. Not with how lucky you already are! But this is the first time I've ever heard the term "cultivation partner." What's the story there, darling?
no subject
[he breaks into a smile then.]
But he's actually so thoughtful, and passionate. Did I mention the part where he waited for me for sixteen years?
[A KEEPER.]
Oh, a cultivator is - well we were both cultivators once. It means building up your golden core so you can store and use your spiritual energy. To protect the weak, mainly.
no subject
Sixteen years. Such patience... And what a shame that he had to wait! But worth it. I'm sure you'd agree. On your behalf... and his.
[Wei Wuxian is surely just as appreciated by Lan Zhan, and Mettaton winks. ...He only has one eye, but it's conveyed entirely by animated gesture.]
Oooh, and how interesting! Even though I don't understand what any of that means... nor how that's intended to protect the weak. But it's the thought that counts. Anything golden is surely grand!
no subject
[he's not sure he can make it worth all the pain, the physical as well as the heartache. but he'll spend the rest of his life trying.
he chuckles. wait, he should've explained it another way.]
A cultivator is sort of like a witch, I guess you could say. With a sword. And most common people don't have a golden core, so it's up to the cultivators to get rid of monsters and evil spirits.
no subject
[Get rid of... monsters and spirits. Of which he is a monster, who is a spirit. Awkward... Mettaton's expression only somewhat betrays his surprise at the use of terminology, ears flattening and attention flitting away for a moment. He's not always in possession of a perfect poker face.
At least... he isn't evil. ???]
So you're a human in possession of magic, like any good witch. But equipped with a sword... And there are monsters in your world, who you banish. That must be the job of a cultivator. Where I'm from, humans aren't often magical! But tell me, darling... How did you get rid of spirits? I can't imagine how you'd do that! They're a bit difficult to hit, if you know what I mean... Ha-ha.
no subject
You're supposed to try to liberate them first. If that doesn't work, you must suppress them so they couldn't do any harm to humans. And if all else fails, you're supposed to eliminate the evil or resentful ones.
[that was the textbook way of doing things. this time it's wei wuxian's turn to avert his eyes.]
Someone came up with a fourth way but it was a little...frowned up.
[the ways in which lan qiren would qi deviate right about now. but the wedding post alone would've done that.]
no subject
Liberate, suppress, eliminate... All in the name of protecting humanity. I can understand that. [Truly, he does. He nods approvingly, despite being a ghost possessing a metal shell himself. It makes sense for humans to protect humans.] But wow, a fourth option! What would that look like? Do you know...?
[As if it's not terribly obvious that Wei Wuxian knows something, by the way he averts his gaze.]
no subject
[this was his reasoning, as a teenager and still later, when he didn't have any other choice. too taboo to even speak of. demonic cultivation.]
no subject
[Hey, somebody had to try demonic cultivation to know its limits and why it's bad, right?]
Besides. Harnessing resentment as an energy sounds nicer to the spirit than, say... eliminating it.
