[ If there's a working network around here, it would be a stupid mistake to not use it. And while he's not above just reading the backlog, he can't find some information he's actually looking for
time to act clueless on the network, apparently ]
so, i'm here to add to the pile of the "dumb shit newbies ask"
they really just let us loose on the city, huh? while i don't mind being left to my own devices, that whole looming threat of going fucking crazy— that's an unfun part about it
how did this bonding work out for you guys, when you first got here?
been wondering— everyone is talking about the importance of capital 'B' bonding, but how about that tempbond potion? aside for the price obviously. are there any downsides for prolonged use? something to watch out for? limit with how many people you can drink that with?
if there are any parties where we meet, drink a round of shots or two, and then drink these temp potions to get through the moons and all the feral shit— just sign me in. if there are none, then consider it a suggestion

So now he's curious.]
Are you planning to experiment with the temporary potions? If you do, it would be worthwhile to record your experiences for those who may be interested in doing the same.
I have used them twice. I was told they aren't as invasive as a permanent bond, though I can't confirm this. Still, as others have expressed, it is just that: a temporary solution.

I understand the discomfort with permanent bonding, but there are also unique benefits.
un: wildcard
the power boost someone above mentioned, yeah. anything else on the unique front?
but back to the temporary solution— is there a reason you used them only twice? do they stop working after a while?
[ Or the symptoms get just so bad they're not enough, that would track ]
no subject
That's the main point of interest. I suppose if you value knowing your partner's emotional state that might be worthwhile. The more stable the connection, the stronger these benefits will be. Or so I've read.
No. Any form of bonding is uncomfortable for me. However, they're extremely useful outside the city and during combat. I used them while I was in the Wilde.
no subject
"I will require one soon" that suggests you're nearing the limit. So it's a choice between a state of permanent discomfort, or survival.
[ Heh ]
So speaking of records, how long have you managed without a Bond till now? The info we got told about three months is the time when the unwanted side-effects start to show. It wasn't told for how long they can be managed.
no subject
[Now let's stop talking about him...]
Are you affiliated with Shinra?
1/2
Are you planning to experiment with how long exactly one can go without a Bond? If you do, it would be worthwhile to record your experiences for those who may be interested in doing the same.
2/2 >private
Who am I speaking with?
>private permanently
But no. I don't intend to experiment. [SMARTASS...] It's fortunate you've since learned to privately lock these conversations. Otherwise they'll remain public to all Mirrorbound in possession of a watch.
no subject
oh yeah, i've noticed [ He did look up Sephiroth account, when the temporarily excused himself out of the conversation ]
so were are you from? [ Name doesn't ring a bell, but that doesn't mean anything. ]
no subject
I'm acquainted with someone from your world, however. By that lack of an answer I'd assume I was right, and you are affiliated with Shinra.
no subject
[ Squints ]
Yeah, I am. Me and fucking other thousands of people living in the city build by them. What's your point?
no subject
If it's as you say, they've had a considerable impact on your world. And the thousands of people living within its city. What is your opinion on that influence?
no subject
wonder how many more people know about it ]
depends where you are. in midgar, everyone, down to the most independent, private contractor has some kind of dealings with shinra. either by providing goods or services to them directly or indirectly— or by buying their resources
or by scavenging what's left of these. take your pick. they built the city and they pretty much own it
[ and i like every corporation, it always wants more ]
no subject
So I've heard. Shinra has a stranglehold on your world, doesn't it?
A control that seems also to have been misused, in some cases. I'm curious if you would agree.
What was there before Midgar? Do you know?
no subject
...no, three, that they know of. Zack arrived at the same time, so he is the least likely to spill anything.
Either way, he's pretty much in the dark on how much Itachi knows, guys says his agenda is to learn more, but it's obvious there is more than just that. At the very least it's confirming where the allegiances lie. ]
dunno if I got the answers you seek, my dude. shinra's been around a long time before i was born. currently, they're probably the biggest player on the world's theatre of power, yeah. do you guys not have states or countries back in your world?
if you want to see whether i will sing praises to the government or say they all need to eat shit, you're knocking at a wrong address
i'm not big on politics
[ ha ha ]
no subject
I see. We do have countries, yes, but the state of power in my own world is far more splintered than it appears it is in yours. There are multiple players. Some individuals even act alone, so long as they have enough strength to accomplish it.
[Allies are more helpful, however.]
Is politics really all that defines what Shinra represents to Midgar? [...] In any case, 'Wildcard'. I've already given you my own name. What is yours?
[He saw someone say Reno earlier, but... look... he's trying to be polite.]
no subject
well then imagine that one of those individuals got hands-on something that allowed them to accidentally amass great power
literally
what shinra is to midgar and everyone else, at the most basic level, is the provider of cheap and affordable electricity. every light and every machine in midgar is powered by energy coming from them
[ That's a lot of information given, but it's also pretty basic. Probably confirming what Itachi already knows. ]
kind of like— how without coven there wouldn't be protective enchantments on the walls, they keep them up. and in turn they can tell the city to give a whole district to random refugees. because they say so
what's so interesting about how other worlds politics? if you're looking for pointers, bet you can find better examples
no subject
Shinra controls Gaia's resources. Its lifeblood. Yes, that's clear to me now.
I suppose it isn't an issue as long as the people of Midgar aren't suffering due to an abuse of power.
[A bit... tongue in cheek, here.]
Why wouldn't the politics of another world be compelling? If only to learn how your own compares. Information shouldn't be taken for granted, and here in this place, we have limitless examples of realities we would never have imagined otherwise.
But you've just arrived, so perhaps your only priority is in returning.
no subject
but you're not trying to learn, you're seeking only information that confirms the bias you already have
but speaking of concern for people suffering due to abuse of power in another world, what have you done lately for denizens of slums behind the Bright Wall?
no subject
That is a fair critique of this place's treatment of its infected. Curing the Cwyld should be our priority, rather than complacency within its walls. I know there are several Mirrorbound focusing their efforts on this cause.
Once you've settled, I wonder if you would join them.
no subject
that's good to know!
i'm no medic or researcher, but if they'd ever need someone with my skills- sure, why not?
[ Not out of goodness of heart or anything like that. He simply doesn't have anything better to do anyway. Of course if they pay him, or at least offer something exciting to do ]
no subject
And what are your skills?
no subject
[ helpful ]
didn't you say you were concerned with bigger, important things— like people's suffering?
