The holiday is one commemorating the Ul'dahn Legend of the Lost Lady. In Eorzea women of all sorts dress in their best clothes, eat sweets, and have a day out on the town, all the while being tended to by a man who serves as their seneschal for the day. It's good, light-hearted fun. I tended to look forward to it quite a bit when I was younger.
[It was her one day out of the year to feel special and not toil over a desk with gems and tools. A day to forget about debts and pretend she was something more than the lot in life she'd been given to work with at the start.]
